This is my third pair of 1620 pants, and the most impressive yet. I'm in Minneapolis, where winters are no joke,, and good outerwear is a safety concern. These manage to be warm, even in sub- zero, without getting me sweaty the way lined overalls do. The side vents really let you let the heat out when I'm moving hard, or head inside for awhile. What stands out most is how totally waterproof they are. I can kneel and crawl around in wet snow (love the double knees) and not absorb any moisture. At all. Getting wet work pants
can mean having to quit early when the windchill hits -15°, and that's never an issue with these. I've only had these this season, so I can't prove their durability yet, but my standard double knee utility pants I've been wearing constantly for 3 years now, and while the color has faded a little, they simply haven't worn out at all. The double knee on these winter ones feel far more durable yet, while the rest of the pant is even more comfortable. As with my other 1620 pants, they simply can't be stained. It's uncanny how completely they wash up.
My critique is the same as for the others: I wish the small, side zippered pocket was large enough for a phone. It would help keep grit off my screen. But the upper left phone pocket is pretty close to perfect.
As always with 1620, my favorite aspect is that I won't have any reason to replace them for years, even with constant use. Other work pants I need multiples to ensure I get through just a season, but 1620s are bomb proof. While I am very glad to spend more for made in USA, I don't make enough to just treat myself to nice things. Yhe fact that 1620s incredible durability and functionality mean I save $ and a lot of hassle in the mid- term is what has made buying 1620 the smart choice for me. Zero regrets. Thanks.
