Working in the water utility industry: there is a lot of bending, crouching, exposure to chemicals, paint, rough or sharp surfaces. I’ve been very impressed with the durability and over manufacturing of these pants. Seams that sometimes look to start coming undone hold together because of the over engineered extra stitches. The uniform blue has been surprisingly resilient to chlorine stains, paint and glue. And the gusset crotch has been a game changer. The fabric stretch and articulation is by far my favorite part of these pants. I never worry about ripping them or having my mobility compromised, and if I did damage them the 1620 repairs are top notch. They’re light enough to be able to hike in and do other chores without feeling fatigued by heavier fabrics.
For those that sweat about the price of 1620 workwear. I’ll say this: the customer service team is excellent when dealing with questions or concerns, you are getting a garment that is going to last a decade, maybe longer. Buying a more expensive product keeps you from growing out of your waistline because you don’t want to have to buy a new wardrobe because you got fatter through your career.
My only complaint is the zipper for the cargo pockets and butt pockets are too minimal. I’d prefer something more beefy and the cloth zipper pulls are useless. I plan to change my over to paracord for added durability
FYI for 2025 products: I will say this to the 1620 team, I believe that you may have an issue with quality control on the stitching for the bent loops for the durastretch fabric line of products. And it is a new problem because my older 1620 products that I’ve bought: the shop pants and durastretch cargo pants are holding up well and don’t have the same issue. The newer pants I’ve bought in 2025 are having the same problem with the center stitching of the bent loop which runs vertically and is dual stitched. Either one or both sides of that stitching is coming undone. I’ve already sent one pair to be repaired and I think I have another one from 2025 with the same problem.
I still love the product and the brand but something that may need to be addressed.
