I am a geology professor and spend time behind a desk, behind a lecture podium, and in the field with rocks, coring equipment, and other things that are hard on clothes. My wife and I were looking for pants that could go from lab to lecture hall to field and be both sharp looking and practical. The Shop Pants hit the mark. The reduced number of leg pockets gives them a more businesslike appearance, but the fabric is friendly to a rough and tumble workplace.
I am 5' 8" and 200 lbs, and the 34 waist 29" inseam fits really well, looks trip but the fabric stretches enough for flexiblity. I bought the uniform blue, which in reality is a very dark navy, which to my eye appears darker than photos online. Nice color in any case.
I am very biased to 1620, my son has them, my dad has 5 pairs and he is 85. The best part of the pant if how they comfortably move with u. Stepping over things, bending down to grab things or putting a knee on the ground, these pants are the best. Not to **** on carhartt but man they cut into your waist and just don’t work well. I split lot of wood and lift heavy logs. The pants show no wear and tear. Also women find them very ****
I like and great pants doesn't sick to your leg work great under workbibs 👍👍👍👍👍
I’ve never been one for shopping, I can’t stand going to the stores to buy clothes that only last a year. I started buying 1620 products in 2021. Working in the water utility industry: there is a lot of bending, crouching, exposure to chemicals, paint, rough or sharp surfaces. I’ve been very impressed with the durability and over manufacturing of these pants. Seams that sometimes look to start coming undone hold together because of the over engineered extra stitches. When I’ve damaged my pants or other 1620 products, their repairs have been top notch. The uniform blue has been surprisingly resilient to chlorine stains, paint and glue. And the gusset crotch has been a game changer, my previous employer had a uniform service, but the pants were junk they had stitching like slacks which meant half the distribution department was walking around with rip crotch stitching. The fabric stretch and articulation is by far my favorite part of these pants. I never worry about ripping them or having my mobility compromised.
For those that sweat about the price of 1620 workwear. I’ll say this: the customer service team is excellent when dealing with questions or concerns, you are getting a garment that is going to last a decade, maybe longer. Buying a more expensive product keeps you from growing out of your waistline because you don’t want to have to buy a new wardrobe because you got fatter through your career. Close enough looking to slacks that can worn for every occasion.
My only complaint is the pocket configuration for the shop pants. I wish there was more, due to the equipment I have to carry. I have started buying cargo pants from 1620 in the same fabric to meet those needs. But I’d still like to see another pair of pants from 1620 in this same fabric with more pockets that aren’t the cargo style.
FYI for 2025 products: I will say this to the 1620 team, I believe that you may have an issue with quality control on the stitching for the bent loops for the durastretch fabric line of products. And it is a new problem because my older 1620 products that I’ve bought: the shop pants and durastretch cargo pants are holding up well and don’t have the same issue. The newer pants I’ve bought in 2025 are having the same problem with the center stitching of the bent loop which runs vertically and is dual stitched. Either one or both sides of that stitching is coming undone. I’ve already sent one pair to be repaired and I think I have another one from 2025 with the same problem.
I still love the product and the brand but something that may need to be addressed.
